Blockchain 4 Humanity
5 min readApr 18, 2019

A series of b4H Coalitions4GOOD events took place during April in multiple locations: Geneva, Madrid and Buenos Aires.

We went off to a great start, energized by the power of Coalitions. We, at b4H, believe that positive impact on humanity can only be realized by united efforts from like-minded individuals and organizations that support a basic set of shared values: Transparency, Inclusion, Open Source and Empowerment, these values propel initiatives and concepts that lead us to a more equitable society.

LAUNCHED: b4H #Coalitions4GOOD — BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA

Our b4H LATAM Angel and Core Contributor, Ivan Kaleja together with Koinbanx’s Marianna Burges, BitGive’s Connie Gallippi and RSK Labs organized the Buenos Aires edition of the b4H Coalitions4GOOD meetup. We had the pleasure to host a few known names within the Argentinian Bitcoin/Blockchain Community. The event brought together 45 participants at the Espacio Bitcoin Argentina who generously offered the venue.

Leo Elduayen, COO of Koibanx

Koibanx opened the event with a recap of the Bitcoin trayectory in the last few years. “People only know that price dropped from 20k to 4k and believe that all that matters is the price. But the reality is that the download of bitcoin wallets increased in the last year alone, seeing a rise in transactions in countries such as Venezuela” Leo adds that Bitcoin serves a higher purpose for humanity than just speculating about the price.

Connie Galippi, Founder BitGive

Connie Galippi, Founder of BitGive, presented Givetrack, the tool developed to support Charities carrying out projects for social good. Additionally, Connie shared her experience on the application of US-based regulations related to charitable donations with crypto-currencies, as BItGive is known to be the first Charity accepting Bitcoin donations.

Ivan Kaleja, b4H Core Contributor and LATAM Angel

Ivan, b4H core contributor and Angel, shared the project selection process of B4HAwards and how b4H supports selected projects through our Catalyzer program. “b4H actively looks for projects that can offer validated use cases of the blockchain technology for social impact, we are here to support and connect them with our network of sponsors, mentors etc”.

Ivan also shared the details of the b4H dapp which b4H uses to track donations and distributes funds only when specific milestones are achieved. Our soft-launch was carried with ‘La Bitcoineta’ and demonstrated that applications such as this, bring trust and emphasizes accountability.

We were thrilled to have Rodolfo Andragnes, Founder of ONG Bitcoin Argentina, LaBitconf and Board Director of the b4H Foundation. Rodolfo shared details on Proyecto Comedor (Community Dining Project), “We want to incentivise 15 women that are currently working pro-bono, feeding about 300 people in very impoverished areas of Argentina”. The project will use blockchain applications to register working hours and automatically assign incentive points as compensation for volunteers to exchanged in local shops.

Guest Speakers and Impact Project Presentations

One of the featured projects was DIDI, it is one of the projects supported by ONG BitcoinArgentina creating digital identities for more than 40000 people living in Villa 31 (impoverished area in Buenos Aires). Ivania Luyo presented progress and roadmap of the DIDI project.

Likewise, Moneda PAR; one of the projects awarded with the 2018 b4H Dreamers Awards presented a progress update on their project ‘Circular’ which is looking to spark local economies in South America.

We closed our event program with a dynamic panel discussion on Social Impact

Ruben Altman, RSK/RIF COO, explained how RSK and RIF take social impact as core to the adoption of the RSK/RIF platform, they have made it their mission to support projects (technically and financially), that can offer a transformative solution to society’s gaps.

The Coalition4GOOD movement’s values were shared and felt amongst the panel, particpants and organizers. Additional events are planned during the year to showcase more of the remarkable projects building solution powered by Blockchain.

Lastly, this could not have been a successful event without the delicious empanadas and snacks prepared by Satoshi Catering and offered by RSK/RIF Labs. Geneva and Madrid were unable to match this feature and uniqueness of our Buenos Aires event! 🌟

We thank all the participants, co-organizers and sponsors for contributing to this very special launch 🚀 of the b4H coalitions4GOOD series.

Thanks to RSK for sponsoring the snacks!
